Type of acne vulgaris

Acne vulgaris is the most common form of acne, and can range from mild to severe. Mild or moderate cases of acne vulgaris include the following types of injuries:

Pustule.
These lesions are often grown reddish and contain a white or yellowish fluid, consisting of pus, oil, dead skin and white blood cells. How inflamed papule, these pimples are the result of breaking the wall inside the follicle.

Skin Whitening creams

  • Mix sandalwood with rose water and apply it on the face daily.Turmeric powder could also be mixed with sandal wood paste and can be applied on face daily.
  • Apply the seeds of grapes on face and neck.
  • Make a paste of grinded almonds and rose water to make a fine paste and apply it on face and neck. This brings glow on the face.
  • Make a mixture of grinded cucumber and mix it with coconut water and then apply on face.
  • Soak four of almonds overnight. Grind them after removing their skin till they become fine. Add 1½ teaspoon of gram flour or besan, 1 teaspoon of fresh milk and four drops of lime juice. Make a paste and apply it on the face. Massage gently the face after 15 minutes till the paste comes off. Rinse with warm water and then followed by cold splashes.
  • Soak raw potato slices in cold water for 10 minutes. Rub these slices over face, neck and hands

Ingredients:
Potato juice - 1 teaspoon
Multani mitti - 1 teaspoon
Blend both the ingredients together and apply on the face. Leave it until it dries. Then wash with lukewarm water. Finally, rinse with cold water.
Cucumber face
Ingredients:
Cucumber juice - 1 tablespoon
Peppermint extract - ½ teaspoon
Mint juice - 1 tablespoon
Mix all the ingredients together and apply this on the face. Leave it for drying. Then wash off with lukewarm water. This face pack is very effective for oily skin. 3. Papaya face pack Apply 2 tablespoons of papaya pulp on your face and let it dry. Then wash off with lukewarm water. One can also mix lemon juice in it. 4.
Egg face pack
Ingredients:
Egg white - 1 egg
Multani mitti powder - 1 teaspoon
Peppermint extract - ½ teaspoon
Water - ½ tablespoon
Soak multani mitti powder in water for half an hour. Beat the egg and blend all the ingredients together. Also mix the soaked multani mitti powder in the mixture. Apply this on the face for 15 minutes. Then wash off with lukewarm water.

Face pack for dry skin

Ingredients:
Yogurt - 1 tablespoon
Multani mitti powder - 1 tablespoon
Mint powder - 1 teaspoon
Soak multani mitti and mint powder in yoghurt for half an hour. Then mix them well by beating. Apply it on face for 15 minutes and leave it to dry. When dried wash off with lukewarm water. Then rinse by cold water.
Egg Face Pack
Ingredients:
Honey - ½ teaspoon
Egg yolk - 1 egg
Milk powder - 1 teaspoon
Beat the egg yolk, mix the milk powder and honey in it. Beat again. When a paste of medium thickness is obtained, apply it on the face. When it is dry, wash off with lukewarm water.

Apricot face pack
 Ingredients:
Honey - 2 teaspoons
Apricot extract - 2 teaspoons
Almond oil - ½ teaspoon
Lemon juice - ½ teaspoon
Mix all the ingredients and apply the paste on the face. Leave it for 15 minutes and then wash off. It is excellent for firming up the skin.
Basel fruit face pack
Ingredients:
Basel fruit powder - 2 teaspoons
Date extract - 2 tablespoons
Honey - 1 tablespoon
All the ingredients are mixed into a paste and applied on the face for 10-15 minutes and then washed off. It is good for the sagging skin become it firms up the skin.

Mint face pack
 Ingredients:
Yogurt - 1 tbsp
Multani mitti powder - 1 tablespoon
Mint powder - 1 teaspoon
Soak multani mitti powder in yoghurt for half an hour, then mix mint in it. Mix all the ingredients well. Apply the paste on the face. Leave it to dry and then wash off with lukewarm water followed by a cold water rinse.
Coconut face pack
Ingredients:
Sea-kale powder - 1 teaspoon
Coconut oil - 2 teaspoons
Mix sea-kale powder and coconut oil in a basin. Massage it on face, neck and forehead for 10 to 15 minutes. Leave it on for 30 minutes and then wash off with lukewarm water in which a few drops of lemon juice have been added. Then rinse off with cold water. It will help to remove the blemishes .
Peppermint face
Ingredients:
Brewer’s yeast - 125 gm
Witch hazel extract - 1 teaspoon
Peppermint extract - 1 teaspoon
Lemon juice - 1 teaspoon
Mix all the ingredients together. Apply on the face and forehead and relax by lying horizontally keeping the eyes closed. Leave it for 30 minutes. Then wash off with lukewarm water containing a little of lemon juice. It is good for improving blood circulation.

Now apply on your face and leave it for 20 to 25 minutes to dry, then rinse off with normal water.

‘Man skin care’ would seem like an alien topic to some men. It would have been even more alien a few years back. However, more and more men are now realising the importance of man skin care (and hence you see markets flush with man skin care products too). Even though the male skin is very different from that of a female, ‘man skin care’ is very similar to the skin care for women.

‘Man skin care’ too starts with cleansing. Water soluble cleansers are preferred. Cleansing helps remove the dirt, grease and pollutants from the skin and helps in preventing pore clogging. The inherent oily nature of male skin makes cleansing an important part of man skin care procedure. Cleansing should be done at least once every day, even better if it is done twice a day. Serious ‘man skin care’ requires a proper selection of shaving related equipment and products. One of the main considerations in choosing shaving products should be the skin type (since the degree of oiliness differs from person to person). Alcohol-based aftershaves should be avoided. Proper ‘man skin care’ also mandates the use of good quality razors. Here, swivel-head razors are preferred since they are known to reduce cuts. Besides these products and equipment, it is also necessary that you use them properly. Be gentle when using your razor. Male skin is generally thicker and oilier, owing to larger pores and more active sebaceous glands. However, due to regular shaving, the skin can get dehydrated quite easily. Well, there is no definitive answer to this. It seems more like a matter of personal choice. However, greasy creams are surely less popular as compared to the non-greasy (or less greasy) ones. Since the application of skin care creams is easier, they seem to be preferred (over lotions) in cases where the skin care product is not to be removed immediately after application. So, skin care creams seem more popular as moisturisers than as cleansers or toners. For toners, lotions seem to be preferred over skin care creams. There are some skin care creams that acts as toners too, but generally the toners are available in liquid form only. For cleansing, lotions and skin care creams are equally popular; however, the tilt seems more towards lotions.

Creams are known to be most effective in keeping skin moist; hence, the most popular form of skin care creams is moisturisers. Due to the same reason, a lot of people tend to associate skin care creams with dry and sensitive skin. Though it is true to a certain extent, skin care creams are not used only for dry skin, they are also used for making products for oily skin e.g. vitamin A creams and sulphur creams that help reduce the rate of sebum production.

Skin care creams are also used for products that cater to skin disorders especially for disorders that require the application of product over a small localised area. This is again due to the fact that skin care creams are easier to apply (without wastage) on the affected area. However, in cases where skin needs to be washed using a medicine/product, lotion is a better choice. Mostly, the manufacturers too realize this fact, making it easier for you to choose between a lotion and a skin care cream

When it comes to skin care products, you will find that a lot of people are very particular about using only natural skin care products. They treat all the synthetic products as harmful to the skin.

So, are natural skin care products the answer to all of our problems? What if a natural skin care product is not available for the treatment of a particular skin disorder? Are the synthetic skin care products so harmful that they should be banned?

You can also make natural skin care products by yourself, by using the recipes that are readily available on the internet and in the books at book stores.

Use of organic fruits and vegetables is also popular as a natural skin care procedure. Some essential oils, herbal oils, are useful too and are known for their moisturising and antiseptic properties

However, using a natural skin care product does not mean that you can exercise carelessness with other aspects of skin care. Natural skin care products should be used like supplements to the following ‘essential’ recommendations: healthy eating habits (avoiding oily food), regular exercise, drinking a lot of water (8 glasses everyday), and cleanliness. This will then form a perfect and completely natural skin care routine that will help maintain a healthy beautiful skin for longer time.

Skin care is not a topic of recent times; it has been in practice since ancient times, when herbal skin care was probably the only way to take care of skin. However, skin care has transformed in a big way. Herbal skin care routines have been replaced by synthetic/chemical-based skin care routines. The herbal skin care recipes which once used to be common place are not so popular today (and even unknown to a large population). This transformation from herbal skin care to synthetic, can probably be attributed to two things – our laziness (or just the fast pace of lives) and the commercialisation of skin care.

Even herbal skin care products have been commercialised. These commercial herbal skin care products have to be mixed with preservatives in order to increase their shelf-life, hence making them less effective than the fresh ones made at home. However, it seems that things are changing fast and more people are now opting for natural and herbal skin care routines. But still, none want to make them at home and hence the commercial market of herbal skin care products is on the rise.

Most herbal skin care products don’t have any side effects (the most important reason for preferring them over synthetic products) Moreover, herbal skin care products can be easily made at home, hence making them even more attractive. So, herbal skin care is the way to go. However, this does not mean that you totally discard the synthetic products. Some people go to the extent of debating with their dermatologist, if he/she suggests a synthetic product. You should accept the fact that some skin orders might need usage of clinically proven non-herbal skin care products.

These products work by enabling the synthesis of collagen (a structural protein that is found in skin). This category of anti aging skin care products is related to anti-oxidants. All about Facial skin care

Cleansing is the first thing in facial skin care routine. Cleansing helps in removing dust, pollutants, grease and extra oil from your skin, thereby preventing damage to your skin. Just spot your face and neck with a good cleansing lotion or cream and gently massage it into your skin using upward strokes. Use a soft face tissue or cotton wool to wipe your face in a gentle patting fashion (do not rub). Instead of making it part of your daily facial skin care routine, you can using toning occasionally i.e. when you have been exposed to particularly harsh environment/pollution.

Exfoliation is again, kind of, optional step in everyday routine for facial skin care. However, exfoliation is necessary at least once a week (or twice, depending on the skin type and the environmental conditions). Exfoliation finds its place in facial skin care routine because of the natural tendency of skin to replenish the skin cells every 3 or 4 weeks. As a facial skin care technique, exfoliation helps in removing the dead skin cells that block the pores, thus assisting the skin in the natural process. However, excessive or harsh exfoliation can cause damage to your skin; so you need to balance it out.

The next thing in facial skin care is moisturising. In fact, moisturising is the most important part of facial skin care routine. Moisturisers prevent your skin from getting dry. Dry skin is really undesirable since it cause the upper layer skin to break, leading to dead skin cells. Again, use light upward strokes to make the moisturiser more effective.
